MENA ARIN Regional meeting for the Establishment of the Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network (ARIN) In the Middle East and North Africa Region

In cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) and with support from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and the generous hosting of the Egyptian FIU (EMLCU), the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) organized between 29-30 April 2024 a Regional Meeting for the Establishment of the Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network (ARIN) in the Middle East and North Africa Region. The meeting covered various United Nations Conventions and Financial Action Task Force recommendations guiding the efforts of States in asset recovery before diving into good practices for established ARINs networks such as CARIN, ARINSA, ARINWA, ARINCA, ARIN-EA and RRAG. The meeting also discussed the main challenges facing ARINs as well as different possible sources of funding, means and tools for information exchange within and between ARINs.  Approximately 90 in-person and online participants representing 17 Member States of the MENAFATF along with international observers and partners attended the two-day- meeting held in Cairo, Egypt.
