The 10th MENAFATF Typologies and Capacity Building Workshop commenced today, Monday, 5 October 2026, in the State of Kuwait. The three-day workshop is graciously hosted by the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing of the State of Kuwait, bringing together experts, specialists, representatives of member countries, observers, and relevant international and regional organizations.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Dr. Yaqoub Al-Sayed Yousef Al-Rifai, Minister of Finance of the State of Kuwait, who delivered the opening remarks. The ceremony also featured remarks by H.E. Hamed Al-Zaabi, Chairman of MENAFATF, and Dr. Hamad Al-Mekrad, Chairman of the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing of the State of Kuwait.
The workshop forms part of MENAFATF’s ongoing efforts to enhance the knowledge, expertise, and practical capabilities of specialists from member countries. It provides an opportunity to discuss the latest methods, trends, and typologies related to money laundering and terrorist financing, while examining relevant experiences and effective practices at the national, regional, and international levels. The themes this year were focused on Financial Fraud and Illicit Financial Flows, Recovery of Assets Derived from Financial Crime, and Use of Technology in Terrorist Financing.
