The 10th MENAFATF plenary meeting which was held in the Lebanese Republic in November 2009 approved the establishment of "a forum for FIUs in the Middle East and North Africa" gathering the heads of FIUs in the member countries of the MENAFATF.
This forum aims at finding a channel of communication between the FIUs –concerned with receiving and analyzing suspicious transaction reports and disseminating them to law enforcement agencies in the member countries – in order to achieve a better and continuous regional communication and cooperation and to support the exchange of expertise and knowledge between each other and help them perform their role efficiently and in a developed way in the field of AML/CFT.
